Free Golf Driving Tips - The Basics of Grip and Stance
Behind putting, driving is arguably the most important aspect of your game. A good solid drive means you have to chip less and your putts will be shorter. If you can stay on the fairway, you will not have to compete with hazards, and your approaches will be much better.
In this article, I will give you some tips on how to get the most of your driving.
Proper driving starts with the right grip. A grip that is too tight will affect your flexibility and torque, and you will lose control of the shot more often. However, if your grip is too loose, you will lack power and your club might fly out of your hands.
It is important to find the right grip that is both comfortable and gives you the right torque and flexibility. Your dominant hand — the one you write with — should be loose and relaxed, and underneath your less dominant hand. The less dominant hand should be linked to the dominant hand.
Most golfers will stick out the thumb on the less dominant hand, and cover it up with the palm of their dominant hand. This ensures both a tight grip, as well as the best chance to control your swing. It works to support both hands and keep the club under control.
Additionally, you need to align the club face with the direction you wish to hit the ball in. Then, your feet should be aligned with your club, and remain parallel to the face of your club.
Your stance should be comfortable. You want the proper distance between your left and right foot, with each pointing outward. Your feet should end up no wider than the width of your shoulders.
