Golf Swing Tips - How to Improve Your Swing
Most golfers do not realize that it’s more than just their arms, when performing a golf backswing. In fact, it is much more than the golfer’s back, and his position compared to the target. The importance has to do more with where you place the club behind your back on the backswing, then when you swing it forward towards the air.
On closer inspection, you can see the golf swing works from up to down. When you perform a takeaway back swing, it starts from the top, when you move your arms and turn your shoulders. This causes the movement of the club to go downward, toward your hips and legs.
If your body is in the right position, it will give you the much needed tension of the muscles, as well as the torque required, to get the most power out of your downswing.
To get the most from your swing, you must do it in a relaxed manner. This will leave your muscles loose, and give you the most flexibility and torque possible, resulting in a more controlled and powerful swing. These two factors are far more important than the speed at which you swing, on the downswing.
It’s not so much the speed that is important — only the steadiness of the swing. If you find you are rushing your downswing, try to relax and slow down.
In fact, the key to the downswing is more about letting it drop and having gravity take it over. Just let it happen naturally. If you have the proper backswing, stance and grip, then it will work itself.
Now, it’s just a matter of the proper follow-through. Make sure your legs are straight with your hips, and both line up with your legs. You can gauge your whole swing by your final position, after you follow through.
