How Two Simple Changes In Your Swing Technique Can End Your Slice Forever
99% of all golf players have battled with the problem of the slice at some point on the course. And to be honest, dealing with a bad slice shot can hurt your golf game tremendously. To help you with a simple tip on ending your slicing problems forever, follow the easy and practical set of instructions as outlined below.
But first, as a quick disclaimer, while the following technique will work for most of you, I cannot guarantee that every single player will follow these guidelines strictly. So it’s up to you to take this knowledge and get yourself on the golf course for some real-time practice.
There Are Only 2 Ingredients That Cause The Ball To Slice
The first thing you must understand is that there are only two variables which can determine the direction of the ball’s flight path: The club face angle and direction in which the club is traveling as it hits the ball. Once you understand these two factors, the next step is to concentrate on the following:
Pay Attention To Your Leading Shoulder
When it comes to your shoulders, try keeping the front shoulder down, towards the ball, and through impact. The term for this technique is called “staying strong” through the ball’s impact. Many golf players never realize just how much their leading shoulder “pops up” just before the club face makes contact with the ball. This has an immediate effect with changing the way the ball travels, which of course is never the way you intend it.
If this is a surprise to you, then quickly see for yourself. Go ahead and step away from the computer and go through your swing motions very slowly. Pay attention to the front shoulder as your impact is approached and look at the club face. You can literally see and feel the club face coming in from the outside-in direction, which of course is the cause of your slice.
Hand & Forearm Details
The second key factor in removing your slice problem on the golf course is by paying attention to the way your hand grips and releases. You have to learn the correct way to release your hands through the ball.
In other words, you have to release the hands while your front shoulder (the leading shoulder) is kept down and facing the ball. In order to do this, the forearms must rotate correctly and your front elbow (leading elbow) must act as a kind of hinge.
By following these simple guidelines, you should practice keeping your front shoulder down and letting your forearms and hands release smoothly through ball, helping you end your slice. Once this all becomes a habit, your ball will also show more distance and height on every shot you make.
